In the USSR, displaying the official national flag was the norm. I understand what the poster wants to say with his reference to a Soviet state but his carelessness with terminology is counterproductive. He won’t be able to stop what is happening because he can’t name the problem. You can’t solve an issue that you don’t understand.
Analogy is the favorite toy of an impotent mind. Not everything can be referenced back to familiar things from the past. Sometimes you must make an effort and learn new stuff because your opponents are doing it and leaving you behind.
I think the analogy may be sound, though.
Would she have been arrested for flying a Soviet flag?

Apparently she wasn’t arrested for flying the flag but for trespassing.
You use analogies all the time to liken whatever you dislike in the US to things that happened in the USSR.

A dozen people get arrested daily in the UK for retweets and social media posts. Do you support that?
Do you have a position at all?

What is the problem in your estimation? Is it just neoliberalism will all countries that embrace NL end up arresting people for mean tweets or non PC observations?
It’s clear that the UK government regards the local population as a problem to be dealt with… harshly (and the longer a person’s local ancestry goes back the more of a problem the are).
On the other hand it seems to absurd and dysfunctional it’s hard to believe supposedly intelligent adults could think such a system is sustainable in the longer term.
What’s the end game?

Have you met any of the current upper crust Brits, my sample is small but none seem to have any sense of duty to help less fortunate citizens. There no plan because is no indication of intelligence, no thought, simply mindless emotion, a mixture of misplaced compassion, perhap guilt for illegal migrants, but coupled with a very definite spitefilled hatred and possibly fear of the lower classes. This will not end well.

People keep calling Israel an apartheid state. Verwoerd’s best defense of apartheid was that he wanted to avoid euro style ethnic cleaning, which Israel seems to be practicing, by adopting the American segregationist model and especially the administration of native reservations. Basically the star trek prime directive where people develop independently until they are ready to join modern civilization.
