Good News

In good news, Keturah has finally given birth, about 5 months after what she thought was the due date. I’m understandably nervous about early September births, so it’s a great relief that the baby and the mother are fine.

  1. “about 5 months after what she thought was the due date”

Girl needs a new midwife…. that was nuts (though she’d looked about 2 minutes away from dropping for over a month).

  2. I am afraid to ask, but I will anyway. Who is this person and how does one miscalculate due date by 5 months? I really thought this was a typo (weeks not months).

    1. I’m exaggerating but it was a bit of a weird situation where they were telling us that the baby was about to come for weeks on end.

Keturah and Shagbark are social media personalities. He’s a talented author and she… needs to concentrate on the baby. And hopefully have a few more to keep her away from trying to get famous.

    2. miscalculating is easy if you have irregular cycles. Typically you date from the beginning of last period, assuming average ovulation at 14 days. But if you’re irregular, it’s possible to not have another period, but also not ovulate until six weeks out, five months out… (shrugs). Then the only way to know is if you’re keeping really intense data such as symptothermal charting, or getting an ultrasound to estimate fetal age (less accurate than STC actually, but more accurate than just guessing).

      1. I understand all that, but 5 months is too big of a margin of error and going in the wrong direction. Usually, people are further along then they think they are (or they simply do not notice the pregnancy) rather than too early.
