What We Almost Got

I never heard of this man in my life. But I knew immediately in which country this happened. I also knew immediately that it wasn’t the US.

How do we all know it wasn’t the US? What prevents the US from becoming such a country?

No, it’s not the constitution. Rights exist only if there are institutions willing to enforce them.

  1. Yes, you’re certainly correct about that. If I recall correctly, the constitution of the Soviet Union was overstuffed with rights that were never enforced but quite the opposite.

    1. Precisely. Stalin’s Constitution was an absolute beaut. Rights galore. But we all understand how absolutely divorced from reality it was.

Paperwork doesn’t give rights. Human institutions do.

    1. Yeah, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand all complied with government efforts to remove firearms from ther citizens, how is that working out?

Canada’s Liberal Party is trying yet once again to try the same. The latest scam is to simply declare hundreds of hunting and sport rifles prohibited firearms, and offer a buyback scheme, but if not accepted, follow with police confiscation. The elected representives of the provinces and territories of the prairies and the North, basically the “cowboys and Indians”, told the authoritarian wannabes to get stuffed ;-D

    1. Thank you methylethyl for this very important information. When I lived in England – over 30 years ago – there were already quite a few cases like this.

I remember a young woman from Cyprus who had successfully but fraudulently joined the local police force. At that time only UK nationals and Australian and New Zealand citizens could join. She was later found out but was allowed to stay on the force “on compassionate grounds”. What kind of reason is that? Especially since her work involved enforcing the law and she had blatantly broken it!

In the Anglo-sphere there is no real tradition of demanding papers or verifying documentation consistently. Add to it a long-standing tradition of living in high-trust societies, and in a globalised world you have the perfect recipe for disaster.

      1. I just read about a state prosecutor who refused to prosecute a guy for masturbating in a park in front of children. She says it’s not a crime. Although it is definitely a crime.

That’s where we are right now.

        1. In FL no less! We are all hoping it becomes an excuse for the fl.gov to remove the prosecutor. We’ve shed a couple of bad ones in the last few years, but there are still some stinkers.

  2. Remember how the term “woke right” became so popular with ghouls like Lindsay and Kisin a few months ago?

    1. Ooooooh, so “woke right” is everybody who isn’t a weird immanentizing-the-eschaton type protestant-with-a-crush-on-judaism conservative.

Woke right thinks Hitler was a tired man who only wanted peace but wasn’t allowed to by the evil Winston Churchill and that the West lost WWII.

        1. Tucker Carlson is now claiming that 9/11 was organized by the US. Let’s not call him woke right, that’s fine by me. But that he deeply dislikes America is evident. He’s a knee-jerk liberal in this. He just is. The far-left has been convinced from the start that the US organized 9/11. I’ve heard everything he’s saying from the people we today call antifa.

I watched a leftist documentary around 2003 and it was identical to Tucker’s new documentary.

The fear of saying something negative about Muslims now engulfs the left and the right. And it’s very tiresome that the right keeps playing catch up with the left.

Wasn’t Tucker talking about what a great ally Qatar was and I think I’ve seen a clip of him praising Sharia law in pretty cringe ways. For a second I thought he might be taking the piss (as the Brits say) but it seems he was serious… Xenu wept…
