On my American trips, I never stay at Airbnbs because I have a deep secret love for American hotels. I can’t explain it but there’s some magnetic charm in them. The Doubletree Hilton where I’m staying right now has a microwave, a fridge, and a machine to boil water so I can make my own tea. I can open the window, which is crucial for my well-being. A great, very quiet hotel. I never stay at the conference hotel because I like to put some distance between work and rest. Since I’m on the executive board, I’d feel like I’m constantly on call if I slept close to where everything is happening.
It’s comical how much tea I make during trips. My teas are fennel and chamomile-anise, so I can guzzle them by the liter.
The breakfast buffet is my favorite part. It just hits better when you’re traveling.

There’s no buffet, unfortunately. Probably because it’s off season and the hotel is very empty. But they make a shockingly good walleye at the hotel restaurant. I know my fish, and this one is a brilliantly cooked fish.

Yeah, one of my wife’s favourite, along with mountain whitefish, and chicken halibut, and ling cod, and sockeye salmon. Do you know what “princess dressed” means ;-D

That sounds like a nice hotel, I’ve always liked staying in hotels ever since I was a kid. It meant staying in a place where someone else did the cleaning and watching TV that had cable and eating different foods at restaurants where Mom got a break from cooking, as a kid that was exotic to me.
