Passivity and Grief

This is simply bizarre:

What is the theory of the mind here? That people who had a bad shock need to be excised from regular life and sit staring at a wall all day? This is stupid.

Even when somebody is experiencing a terrible personal loss, they don’t need complete passivity. To the contrary, they need a huge to-do list. When somebody dies, in the Orthodox tradition we have a funeral, then pominki, then a gathering at 9 days, and another gathering at 40 days. You cook, organize, talk to people, that helps.

Oh, students will want to go home. OK, and so what? You can’t accept their papers by email? Because normally they hand them in personally? Email has been abolished? You managed to teach remotely for two years and now all of a sudden you are “significantly hindered”?

What is the lesson here? That when you experience something unpleasant, life stops? This isn’t real. Nothing stops. You are preparing students for something that’s not a thing.

And by the way, why is the shooter still not apprehended? What is going on?

  1. A member (or members) of a preferred group committed the crime and the politically correct types RI are merely helping him/her/it out by performing this charade.

    1. It’s the instinctive explanation at this point.

Particularly since one casualty was the VP of Campus Republicans.

Suspecting now, that it was targeted, and the reason it’s being slowrolled is: college, PD, media, all basically colluding to avoid giving the political opposition a rallying point.

As always: we’ll know more next week. Probably.

  2. Well, I am sick and tired of weak-assed “male” leaders, who the hell is electing these gutless wonders? The Prime Minister of Australia implies that somehow the threat is “right-wing extremists” instead of brain dead left-wing politicians importing trouble makers that do not integrate, let alone assimilate.

And the @#$$%### head of police thanks the police for their rapid and effective response — but an elderly witness says that he lay over his babies for 20 minutes as the shooters calmly shot men, women, and children while four cops hid instead of shooting back. The only person that acted was a Lebanese immigrant fuit merchant.

You cannot make this shit up.

        1. CBC is saying Ahmed Al-Almed is a Syrian immigrant, a Muslim, has some undetermined previous association with police, was shot several times in the shoulder, is resting in hospital, but needs further surgery.
