Burdensome People

A woman in Canada was euthanized because she was unwell and it bored her husband to have to take care of her. There was no place in a hospice for her and, in spite of the woman not wanting this, she was put to death.

Remember what I keep saying about healthcare collapsing when there’s no nation-state? This is what it looks like. It starts with the very elderly because it’s easier to get people to accept getting rid of them. But it doesn’t stop there. Inconvenient people who require effort and can’t be farmed for utility get swapped out for newer, healthier models. Don’t get old or sick, is the lesson.

This case is causing no outrage. We have traveled far down the road of normalizing the elimination of inconvenient people given that only a few years ago the case of a man who disconnected his comatose wife from life support to please a new bit on the side did shock people and at least provoked a discussion. In that case, the wife was not conscious and was not asking to be spared death. We are now at the stage when a person says. “Please don’t kill me” but she still gets killed because she’s a burden.

  1. On the other hand, pace your Chagos post, what people say can matter quite a lot:

“The initial assessor requested an opportunity for re-evaluation, but this was denied, with the second assessor deeming it urgent. That evening, a third MAiD practitioner was brought in, and Mrs. B underwent MAiD that night.”

    vs.

“The initial bureaucrat requested an opportunity for re-evaluation, but the other MAiD bureaucrats denied it. The second bureaucrat responsible for deciding whether the woman lived or died deemed killing her to be urgent. That evening a third member of the MAiD execution team was brought in, and Mrs. B. was killed”

    1. I agree that they say they describe the killing of this poor woman is egregious. If you can do it to a person, at least find the strength to own up to what you’ve done.

  2. Eliminating burdensome people is standard nazism and can just as well be considered extreme nationalism since they impose a burden on the state.

    1. It’s fascinating that the state putting this completely innocent woman to death is provoking zero outrage while Alex Pretti dying at the hands of the state also unnecessarily yet after showing up to push around police with a handgun in his pocket is provoking a lot more outrage.

It’s extraordinary how easy it is to manipulate people. Pretti is useful to the cause of taking healthcare away from millions of such old ladies. So she gets shoved while he gets deified.

Many have _still_ not made the connection between charity mass immigration and elimination of state services…..

They don’t want to believe and so they filter out any evidence that points that way.

But if you look at it rationally, there are only a few options

-governments are simply ignorant and have no idea how destructive mass immigration of low social and educational capital people is

-they know but think it’s a temporary phase before Somalis and Afghans fully integrate and stop being a drag on any country unfortunate enoug to take them in

-they know and that’s why they go out of their way to continue it, because they’re useful
