This is a complete misunderstanding of:
- Cultural differences;
- Life in small villages in Eastern Europe.
Everybody in the village turns out to mourn when a fellow villager dies. People don’t carry photos of deceased family members. Somebody else in the community carries the photo to show that the entire village perceives the loss as theirs. This is Western Ukraine, and it has its own set of funeral rites hallowed by centuries of tradition. That one boy has the community-approved role of being responsible for carrying the portrait when somebody dies is normal. He’s probably one of the altar boys in the local church. If the deceased soldier had a son, the son’s role is to be next to the mother and take care of younger siblings, if any. Nobody would ask him to leave the mother’s side. It’s just not done.
The reason why family members aren’t asked to carry the portrait is because you don’t give tasks to bereaved relatives. It’s considered extremely rude. The community congeals around the bereaved, and everything you need to get done during the first nine days is done for you. You don’t need to ask. Everybody has their role and fulfills it.
What is even the suggestion here? That there’s no war? That these soldiers didn’t die? It’s been four years. Are we still at the stage of proving to morons of Glen Greenwald’s caliber that the war is real?

The linked Karl Radl describes himself as “Expert on Merchants. National Socialist. Bacon Cheeseburger Fascist.” (bold is mine) and is as obsessed with his fantasies about evil Jews in his blog as German National Socialists were in the 1930ies.
As for Lag BβOmer, I guess, if American Scouts sit near a campfire, it’s fine, but any Jewish religious / national tradition is twisted beyond recognition. When my brother was in elementary school, his entire class prepared potatoes and such at this holiday. It was very nice.
I read on Israeli news sites, and cases of animal abuse are usually committed by 15-17 youths, w/o connection to being religious. Numerous volunteers, also Jewish, btw, work to prevent animal abuse and find good homes for any animals they find.
Of course, people searching to justify their pathological obsession with Jews are very glad to find any twisted people of Jewish origin and claim all Jews are like that.
Somehow they never seem to apply the same standard to their own country and people…

OT: noticed local Nextdoor post this morning, asking about DHS vehicles in a nearby neighborhood– there is still action going on! No headlines, no violence, no noise.

“Normal communities” are cultural artifacts: it took Europeans about twenty centuries to get to where we are. And it seems that it will be made to go down the drain in a matter of twenty years or so.

This is terrible for us and terrible for the source countries. Open borders are the worst calamity Central America has experienced since the civil wars of the Cold War era ended in early 1990s.

Mass importation of migrants from chaotic dysfunctional societies to better functioning ones… there is no benevolence behind this.
The goal is to change the relationship between the government and citizen from representatives to aristocrats.
