This is the result of shredding the Budapest Memorandum. There couldn’t have possibly been any other result.

Ukraine had nukes. Ukraine gave up its nukes under the promise that if its aggressive neighbor with nukes invaded, its territorial integrity would be protected. The aggressive neighbor invaded. Ukraine was told, sorry, you have to sacrifice your territorial integrity because we are afraid of your neighbor who has nukes.

What conclusion could everybody observing this possibly draw other than get your own nukes?

          Clarissa, you and SB also ignore two important factors:

          1. Unlike US, Israel has a draft. Everybody (who is not Arab) must serve, regardless of one’s desires, IQ or another citizenship.
          2. There are great national differences among countries. Serving in Russian armed forces even before 2014 was differently perceived by Russians than the way serving in American ones is seen by Americans, and both are vastly different from serving in IDF. The purposes of those armed forces are different as are the histories and the present for those countries.

          In Russia, it’s a sign of low status to serve. In Israel, evading draft is a shame and a sign of putting oneself outside society.

          No wars had been fought on American soil after 1865, and American soldiers fight and die to protect American hegemony. AI told me US is responsible for “nearly 40% of global defense spending”. It’s obviously not doing that ‘for freedom’ or to please Israel, even if you disagree with how it chooses to use this power or see some wars as harmful for America.

          Jews in Israel have been fighting wars on our soil since before Israel’s establishment as a state. We literally protect our lives and the existence of our state.

          1. In SA, the WW2 army army was largely middle class. The apartheid military was generally low class. It was a key point that the white anti apartheid movement was unwilling to attempt to seize power by force, something I suspect the subsequent government still relies on.

          Also, the idea that accepting IQ distributions leads to considerations of inferiority is the entire foundation of wokeism. I’m not interested in this framework at all. As I said, I hear it at work all day. Mostly from colleagues with last names like Zimmerman.

              Without draft and constant real danger, mainly lower IQ or poorer people would join IDF too.
