The Bank of England will replace images of the country’s great men—Wellington, Churchill, etc—on its new banknotes with pictures of wildlife because it’s impossible to find any important figures who are not “exclusionary” or “divisive.”
A collective agreement on a roster of historic figures who symbolize the greatest achievements and the best qualities of a nation is one of the most basic attributes of a nation-state. The new banknotes will symbolize the end of Britain as a nation.
EU has done the same with all their currency. No pictures of historical figures allowed. There are bridges, buildings, wildlife.
Are they planning to keep the king on their coins?

The EU was never a nation. But Britain was. It was one of the very first and one of the most successful. That’s why this is so painful to watch.

Yeah, a most fortunate admixture of Greco-Roman, Nordic-Germanic, and Judeo-Christian thought.

More evidence that the UK is not going to be a country anymore and will be just a name on a map. Perhaps a new name like Airstrip One might be in order….

Absolutely. There’s no nation-state without a shared education system. It’s being dismantled brick by brick with steely determination.

Yes, destroying the history of the West is everywhere. The Liberal governments in Canada are the epitome of suck holing feminist and aboriginal arse kissing — replacing our first prime minister, Macdonald with a Micmac would be Rosa Parks, and “honouring” Banting the discovery of Insulin with the image of a nameless woman viewing a microscope. The former welded our argumentative colonies into Canada, the latter saved millions of people from dying of diabetes. There are simply no words…well actually ;-D

It’s only fair, Henry the 8th destroyed Augustines Catholic England that had lasted a thousand years, root and branch. You can still see the bones of this once great nation in the skeletal ruins of the many monasteries and churches he sacked and looted to pay for his brave new England. Henry the 8th didn’t just undermine Englands noble past, he erased it and outlawed it, brutally.

Time gives us perspective, the other ingredient is space. Britain gave rise to the greatest of the European empires and a lot of this is post-imperial devolution. But it’s not just Britain, it’s not even just Europe, it’s also the entire section of the globe where Europeans set down roots.

Yes, but the Anglosphere accepted English Common Law, and resulting legislation created a majority of voters that simply does not understand the group that intuitively defends/protects territory…and that is my kindest way of suggesting that general suffrage appears to be a failed experiment ;-D

Didn’t Trump it’s over, we won, we are getting out? Or was it another one of those market-rigging ploys?
Every bastards who assured us that the Ayatollah regime would fall immediately because crowds of happy pro-Western Iranians would topple it should be put on trial for treason.
It’s been almost two weeks. Gas prices are up to $3.59 from $2.89 where I live. Gas stations stand there like huge colorful advertisements for the failure of this administration to keep its promises.

It’s the same people who did exactly the same for Iraq. And when this was mentioned, the answer came back that Iran is not the same as Iraq so shut the fuck up, commie. In fact, I remember even you making this argument. To be clear, you were not saying that iran would topple immediately, but you clearly repeated this talking point (that iran is not the same as iraq so previous failures do not matter).

I said that Venezuela is not Iraq. And I was completely right. The Venezuelan operation was a great success. But hoping for something similar in Iran is lunacy.
