The cat is actually pretty smart. She always meows ferociously before jumping on my bed. It took her no time to figure out that I get lost deep inside my inner world and it’s not a good idea to make sudden moves around me. Or it is if you enjoy watching me freak out completely. Which the cat doesn’t because she’s not large.

It’s nice that some pets are smart enough that they learn how to get what they want without annoying their owners too much. When I was a kid, our family bought a poodle who had a bark that could shatter glass. When she realized how much we hated her bark, she stopped and started whining when she wanted something. It was only when we didn’t respond to her whines that she would deliver the bone-shaking bark.
