They think that black people are like insects. And they are unable to recognize that angry mobs of their leftist brethren would be eviscerating them for such posts if Trump hadn’t won the 2024 election.

These people are not woke in any discernible sense, they are more akin to utilitarian rationalists.

A fixation on slavery is the hallmark of the left. One can’t get through a faculty meeting without hearing how everything is exactly like slavery.

In rationalist rhetoric, the role of slavery is to provide an example of something that everyone used to consider OK but is now universally deplored, the idea being that whatever new principle (like insect welfare) is being proposed, will also one day be common sense. I would think that the role of slavery in more conventional woke discourse is a little different and more straightforward?
