OK, people, this is absolutely the best answer I ever got from a student.
Jews were persecuted horribly in mid evil Spain.
How can I even correct this beautiful statement?

I am glad this jerm is not an antisemitic one, for a change. Finally a statement I can emphasize with!

GEM, not jerm.

Isn’t “jerm” more appropriate for this comment? 😉

At least I can see that my teaching is finally working. I have described the suffering of the Jews in 1492 so vividly that students had to be dead not to feel the pain.

Mid evil, not high evil? 😉 (you did ask how to correct this, after all…)

Mediæval is of course the correct spelling. It is sad that we have allowed our alphabet to decay so.

Oh. I have no idea how that happened. 🙂 I’m answering comments and posting while running around between lectures. But thank you for telling me.

Would “fully evil” Spain have completely obliterated the Jews and everybody else who wasn’t a Spanish Catholic? 🙂

To a medievalist, this is common as dirt. I even have a mug from a conference with half a dozen (at least) misspellings of “medieval.” I’m so tired of hearing about my period of specialization as evil, even if only partly.
