Bill O’Reilly and Unicorns

Apparently, my rants against the Soviet Union and communism made the students in my Hispanic Civ course classify me as an admirer of Bill O’Reilly.

“So do you agree with what Bill O’Reilly said about unicorns the other day?” one student asked.

“Unfortunately, there are limits even to my knowledge of current events,” I confessed.

Now I’m wondering whether he really made an announcement about unicorns or whether the student was making fun of me.

  1. Funnily enough, I googled “Bill O’Reiley and Unicorns” to see what this could mean and your blog was the first hit! 🙂 ………….. I can’t find anything specific but it seems like O’Reiley was discussing the North Korean claim that they discovered a “unicorn lair”?

  2. Bill O’Reilly is an idiot no matter what side of the political spectrum you’re part of. He’s just another book peddler and an entertainer in my eyes. Just because you went to Harvard or Boston University does not necessarily mean you’re the brightest bulb in the shed.

I don’t watch any of the networks anymore, except for Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld, which I watch on YouTube because Fox airs it at such a strange time (3 in the morning). Definitely worth watching and a lot of comedians come on that show too, so you get to hear a variety of different opinions on the issues.

    1. Fox News is a different planet. It’s like people even speak a different language. When he talked about “that girl”, it took me a while to figure out that he’s referring to Kate Middleton. Well, at least it wasn’t Queen Elizabeth. There is progress after all!

      1. I agree. It does seem like they speak their own language. I was shocked that Miller and O’Reiley announced how much money they make and expect people to feel sorry for them because they might have to pay a bit more in taxes. They are silly entertainers who make WAY more money than they ought. Do they really want to draw attention to that? And apparently this rhetoric works for the Fox News watching crowd. Amazing.

        1. It is really ridiculous and kind of sad that they honestly want people to feel sorry for them.

Good to know that my students watch this crap. 😦 😦 The student who asked me this question also asked why the US doesn’t just invade Mexico to improve people’s lives. This is at the END of the course on Hispanic Civilization.

  3. How do you get a license to broadcast such crap? is it a pirate TV station operating in international waters so that they don’t have to meet any standards?
