A Little American Baby

I’m walking around the house, repeating to myself, “I’ll have a little American baby”, and laughing. I was born behind the Iron Curtain, so you can understand why the idea of a little American baby seems strange.

And I’m not just speaking formally when I say this will be an American baby. I have proof of its inclinations already. For weeks, I’ve had the most intense cravings for

1. Pizza
2. Hamburgers.

And when I say “cravings “, I mean I have dreams about them and have to make efforts not to drool on the keyboard as I write the word “pizza.”

Normally, I eat pizza about once a year and hamburgers about once every 3 years, so this is highly unusual.

  1. I had different cravings with each of my boys. For the first, I wanted cake constantly. For the second, I wanted Caesar salad and the tartest lemonade I could find. My first kid is on the stocky side and my second kid is skinny. I’m guessing that’s a coincidence, but maybe not…

I’m so excited for you! When are you due?

  2. This is exactly what crossed my mind when I heard the good news: Clarissa’s baby will be the US president in 2050!

Your baby will be a blond/blue eyed all-American kid!

  3. Why blond/blue eyed?. What about N’s contribution?. Or maybe Clarissa’s baby will be a partenogenesis/partenogenetic baby? That’s what my youngest is asking?

    1. N.’s eyes are green, so the baby has to have light-colored eyes. The hair, of course, is in question since my entire family has pitch-black hair. I’m the only exception.
