Question for Scholars

A question for fellow scholars in the Humanities: how many copies do university presses and academic publishers usually publish of each title? What is a regular print run?

  1. Funny, the number 3000 popped into my head as soon as I read this post. But I have no idea at all whether it is correct. I think the number could well vary.

I tried to buy a book published by a friend of mine on The Song of Roland by Cornell University Press, about a decade ago. It turned out that the publisher had remaindered it very quickly and I never did get a copy.
