  2. A fetus forcing its way out of a woman during an abortion and murdering everyone in the clinic with a gun…

    … that is damn near the scariest thing I’ve ever imagined.

    1. Yeah? And now imagine a pregnant woman walking around with an armed fetus inside her, a fetus that can take offense at anything and start a shooting spree from between her legs at any time.

  4. It’s Rosemary’s Baby on steroids.

    On another topic, I began reading François Mauriac today and became very excited.

    Le Baiser au lépreux («Поцелуй, дарованный прокаженному» / «Поцелуй прокаженному») —> Loved the writing style! Also, I usually get caught up in a good book and tend to accept author’s commentary, but in this case I loved the way Mauriac described the situation, but couldn’t accept his comments on it at all, which was a very interesting experience.

    Le Mystère Frontenac («Тайна семьи Фронтенак» / «Тайна Фронтенаков» / «Тайна Фронтенак») —> now reading it and this novel seems to be more interesting on several levels, so in case you decide to try I advise to check it out first.

  5. Speaking of psychiatrists in search of patients, ages ago you directed our attention to a post at “The Last Psychiatrist.” Just recently the following comment landed there:

    TLP may not be trying to make this point but i am so tired of hearing about over medication or inappropriate use of medication to treat a disorder that many psychiatrists don’t believe exist. I’m referring here only to ADHD. I am a psychiatrist. I’ve been treating adults for 30 years in private practice. Because I ended up working in an upscale neighborhood, the majority of my patients can pay me without insurance. I began to pick up that a sizable number of people who came in with anxiety or depression, and had careers considered professions were hiding behind a wall of shame – houses they could not ever get close to order, jobs they got because somebody suggested they try (fill in the blank), did well in school but didn’t have a plan for what to do with it, were always early and never lost their keys but couldn’t let themselves be late and their keys were anchored to their bodies. They learned to pass for normal. I wore them down by relentless listening way past the 50 minute hour. And by going to their houses. Undiagnosed adults with ADHD. And PTSD from harsh punishment as kids. I treated both. Stimulants worked at any age. The world opened up to them. Crippling shyness fell by the wayside.

    I got so tired of having to battle with family, their internists, other psychiatrists who tried to tell them I was putting them on speed and sometimes losing patients for whom the world finally made sense because of social pressures, callous pharmacists..the list goes on. My income dropped because I was spending so much time with them and charging my standard $200/hr for two hours of time in my office at the same fee. PLEASE EVERYBODY LISTEN – THIS DISORDER DESTROYS LIVES. And it’s safe and treatable. The medication works. Don’t belittle it. Ok – I am done.

    1. Thank you for this great news! I hope that this pill-pusher and other jerkwads of his ilk all go broke as soon as possible! And the people they have bamboozled with their invented diagnoses all find permanent relief with no chemical substances involved.

        1. There is a multitude of drug-free therapies for all the listed “conditions”. But they all require some sort of effort on the patient’s part. Many choose to zombify themselves with pills insteadm

    2. Clarissa, I want to clarify to myself what exactly he was doing differently. He writes:

      Aren’t stimulants also drugs? Just different ones?

      from wiki: “Speed can refer to amphetamine, methamphetamine and substituted amphetamines”

      So, was he or wasn’t he putting them on speed? It’s already reading comprehension issue, sorry. And, if he wasn’t, how could others lie about it to his patients?

      The most important question is what were the patients doing to get better, and whether it was taking stimulants (for a short while?) instead of ADHD meds?

    1. Obviously, this creature samples the drugs he pushes on regular occasions. This is a narcomafia whose only difference from the cartels that sell heroin is that this cartel’s drugs are legal thanks to lobbying.

        1. Narcissistic and immature. Yes, shyness is tough, nobody has to tell me about it, but the degree of immaturity needed to try to treat this issue with medication is mind-boggling.
