Oh crap! I gotta get back into picking up where I left off on the third season of Breaking Bad!
The fact that you’re an academic and that you mentioned meth in a blog post made me really think about my newfound Breaking Bad addiction. I’m not gonna spoil anything on here, but let’s just say it’s a fantastic television program with a chemistry teacher turned meth manufacturer. Sorry about that.
There are other connotations, especially in the UK. Is your student a homeless person? Methylated spirit has been known as the beverage of choice amongst the longterm homeless here for years, though the younger street people today are said to be more dependant on cider.
That myths can be very addictive and can drive people to do pretty crazy stuff?

I don’t know anything about the students, unfortunately. I have never even seen them.
