To those who pee themselves with delight over Pope Francis’s saccharine and hypocritical pronouncements: you are funny. Here is why.
Of course, one of the leaders of the Russian Orthodox Church made an official statement today saying that single mothers should be referred to exclusively as cunts. He should take lessons in PR and diplomacy from Pope Francis.
At least, this particular church leader is not getting on the cover of Times as the person of the year.
For complete information on the unwelcoming of the book: “Get married and be submissive” by Spanish society, my daughter recommends you read the article in one of the major spanish newspapers (see link below). The Spanish Ministry of Health and Education and several Women Associations asked the church authority in Granada to withdraw the book. Thank you

I’m well aware of the controversy. The book is only a small part of a general assault on women’s rights in Spain.
In Italy, I hear, things are even worse. There, nobody even questioned this book. π¦ π¦

I’m italian and I don’t even remember having ever heard of this book. Maybe my brain tried to erase its memory, but I doubt it ever was a bestseller or taken into much consideration (if any).
By the way, I made the mistake to read the comment section of the Telegraph article and now I need to puke.

A “cunt” is a sheath for a sword, implying that men like to fuck.

Russian is very rich on swear words, and I tried to find the closest English equivalent. It isn’t the exact translation, of course, but it’s as close as it gets.

Oh well. Generally in most slurs there is an implicit admittance about something or other.

I’d say a “slut” is better translation of “bl***”, but I am not a linguist…

“Slut” is not even censored on American daytime TV. It isn’t an equivalent of the most offensive word in the Russian language that this priest used.
