Well I agree that a donor/voter has to be pretty dumb to fall for it. But I do think the ad is deliberately designed to trick donors. But I actually think it might have the opposite effect. Republicans might see the prominent headline at the top and the face of the opposition and stop reading.

There’s a lot of people who either 1)don’t read everything or 2)can’t read. Either way, poor reading comprehension is a huge problem

I wonder whether they cleared it with lawyers. It would be delightful if this resulted in prosecution for fraud. Someone visually impaired who could read the top two lines but not the next ones in a smaller font would be the sort of victim who would help make the case.

Of course, they could have made the correct text the same colour as the background. Then, it could not be read unless you highlighted it. There was a scandal about this kind of thing about ten years ago.
