Healthy Drinking

In terms of psychological health, there are healthy and unhealthy ways of drinkinh alcohol, eating, gaming, and even smoking. I’m not talking about physical health, mind you, only psychological.

Here is the way to decide if your drinking, smoking, eating, etc are psychologically healthy or not. If you do these things for the purposes of emotional healing, they are unhealthy. Say, you are stressed out, exhausted, anxious, nervous, overwhelmed, and your response to that is, “I need a drink /  a cigarette / an ice-cream”, this is not psychologically healthy.
If, however, you enjoy a good piece of cake, a cigar, or a glass of wine simply because you like their taste every once in a while, that’s completely healthy. In other words, all of these things are psychologically healthy when enjoyed for their own sake. The moment when they begin to serve secondary purposes, however, we have entered the area of mental issues.

  1. Well, in fact can someone be healing by Ayahuasca or by LSD? Some people report that they can, but most people do not have the knowledge or internal discipline to be anything other than crazier, especially Americans who go to South America and other places to try to get a shamanic experience. But the whole of modernity, their internalized modern thinking, has made them very passive and the victim of charlatans. So, no healing for them, just exploitation at the hands of some third world fellow.

Perspective and how we have been trained to look at the world DOES MATTER, despite the current wisdom that we are all essentially the same. You can’t have a drug-induced dissociative experience and gain something from it if there are no teeth in the brain for the experiences to stick to.

Thus the shamanic tradition diagnoses pathology differently.

    1. Well, my readers are unlikely to come from a mentality that hasn’t been heavily influenced by the Wesyern tradition, so I think the post will work for my audience.

      1. hahaha. Just don’t try shamanism if it isn’t for you. I think it very important to keep the traditions separate in one’s mind, because there are types of people and what will cure one type will harm the other type. All my cures seem to be harmful to the opposite type, but their cures are also harmful to me. Different types.
