Amazon’s Shamelessness

Amazon has become completely shameless. It now charges from $10 and upwards (up to $100 or more, in some cases) for renting a digital copy of a book. Not selling, mind you. Renting. A digital copy. For ten to a hundred bucks.

This was supposed to be done for expensive textbooks but now this option has spread to regular books, too.

Have you ever heard of anything more ridiculous?

Yes, the people who actually pay it. 😉

  2. Are there really textbooks that cost more than $100? I am not talking about the the first edition limited to 1000 printed books of which 900 have already withered away and the rest is now sold to collectors. I mean fresh-out-of-the-press books?

That would be crass. I have needed some horrendously overpriced books for classes before, but a $100 would be a new record.
