It’s like there literally is nothing but yes-butting in my blogroll today:

I’m not trying to condone or justify the murders in any way. The murders were horrible, and I hope the killers are caught and brought to justice. But the reaction I am talking about there is not a reaction to human beings being killed.

I’m starting to fear that 2015 will be the year of the yes-butter.

From the same article by the same author:

Yes, it is horrible that 12 people were killed, but how many people were killed by Obama’s drones last week?

The guy has nothing whatsoever else to say in his piece aside from these yes-buts. It might seem funny until you remember that yes-butting is a sign of extreme passivity and inertia. Yes-butters need to be shamed and ridiculed until they stop poisoning the air we all breathe with the noxious fumes of their impotent whining.

  1. So what is your point?

My point was that just because we disapprove of murder, we should not necessarily demonstrate our approval of racism, sexism and xenophobia. Are you saying that disapproval of murder requires that we approve of those things, because it sure as hell looks like it?

        1. Ah, I had a recent Internet bully who was trying to get me to close down my YouTube. I have encountered types like him before, on rare occasions. He seemed to be vying against anything that was adult in the content of my videos, and not just the characteristic of being intellectual, which accrues to some adults but not all, as well as against the mature, female perspective that I bring to some of my topics. He asserted that he didn’t want to grow up and have to face things like these, and that exposure to my videos had caused him considerable pain. He emphasized that shamanism has to embrace “the child”. And I put two and two together and realized that this was probably a pedophile who felt threatened by adult minds and adult sexuality, especially women. He wants to defend his right to live in an immature state and to spiritualize his immature condition. To atttack complex adult perspectives and even their right to exist, whilst insisting that only immature outbursts are truly justified in existing, is to defend something sinister — probably pedophilia.

        2. How can you harass anybody by expressing ideas??

As for suicide, suicide mentality forms long before people are old enough to access the Internet. And the same goes for vulnerability to bullying.

  2. Mnay people were killed, it is certain, but a mosquito bit me on my buttock!

Many people were murdered and OF COURSE we lament that and cry hard and hardly, but what about all the people that also diedid that weren’t mentioned on the media. What about they? People are killed all the time. It never ceases to happen. On and off the media. Why can’t people recognise that for once and stop complaining?

    1. Exactly. According to this logic, nobody should grieve over anything because you can always find an even greater tragedy. I mean, just think of the Bubonic plague of the 1350s! In view of such horrible suffering, how dare you be upset about anything!

I just hate this kind of obnoxious preaching.

      1. I absolutely loathe it — especially because it was used against me and I really needed to grieve a lot of things in order to adjust to the present time and place. But they said, “no, no, no. You are an evil-doer and any mention of yourself is self-aggrandizing.” This meant I could not actually adjust into modernity. It made it very, very hard indeed.

  3. Yes, but instead it’ll be a year of silly, sometimes horrible comic strips in the mould of Charlie Hebdo …

Yes, but those offended Russian Orthodox are unhappy little Marmites because someone ruffled their feathers with that “father, son, and holy ghost” one. 🙂

(yes, but enjoy your two minutes of hate!) 🙂

    1. I pray to holy trinity twice a day but I enjoyed the cartoon. My God is too huge to take offense at cartoons.

But then again, I never collaborated with the KGB, unlike the Russian Orthodox priests.
