“A spokesman for Vladimir Putin on Friday denied rumors swirling in the European media that a baby had been born to the Russian leader.
Several news outlets reported that a woman romantically linked to Putin in the past had given birth, a possible explanation for the leader’s unusual absence that has sent the Russian rumor mill into overdrive.”

“Which woman?”
Presumably this one:

Polish media were reporting rumors that she was giving birth in Lugano, Switzerland.

The idea that Putin would cancel crucial meetings and schlep all the way to Switzerland to be present at the birth is beyond bizarre. It’s more likely that Putin eloped with Hollande to a resort in the Pacific, seriously. Whether Kabaeva gave birth to the 3rd baby or not, Putin’s absence cannot possibly have anything to do with it.

It does seem like a far fetched idea. This morning on a news channel they were speculating on reported speculation that he’s been…. summoned by the military (perhaps acting on the behalf of some oligarchs) to explain himself so they can decide his future.
As popular as invading other countries is with the vatniki the current adventure apprently does not please some powerful people.
In other news, they were mentioning that Poland has lept up the Russian enemy rankings (still behind the USA, but right up there).
Just in, a Polish journalist was detained for speaking to Ukrainian activists in Simferopol.

Actually the journalist has been released but the Ukrainians he was talking to haven’t.

About The Wire, and being someone who highly recommended this series to you years ago: I started watching the first season again last Fall, and I did not like it as much as the first time. There was something very annoying that I had failed to see the first time. Lets see if you express the same reserve than mine about the series.

I will write about this in a separate post because, shockingly, I do have quite a bit to say. 🙂
