Civil Society in Ukraine

In a large Ukrainian city, municipal authorities are too lazy and corrupt to mark pedestrian crossings.

So people decided to stop waiting for these idiots to grow a conscience. They got together and painted the crossings:

When the photos of the crossings started to appear on social media, Kremlinbots began to flip out in a frenzy of, “This is propaganda of homosexuality! You are all gay! We knew it this entire time! Evil Ukrainian gays are destroying traditional values!”

Ukrainians are, of course, finding this all absolutely hilarious.

  1. Actually that’s pretty cool. It does vaguely remind me of something sillier and more obviously vandalism, but equally as cool- a pedestrian underpass in the city I was at university in which had all its lights covered in different coloured spray paint, which I nicknamed the “Psychadelic Subway” (subway as far as I know meaning a pedestrian underpass in the UK, not an underground light railway).
