Small Town Living

Living in a small town is sometimes quite constraining. I go to the CVS and discover that a student of mine works there.

“Hola, profe!” he yells happily. “What are you getting? Medication? What kind? Are you sick?”

The entire store stares at me as I scurry towards the pharmacy.

  1. At least it’s not the same one you’ve always lived in. My sibling came to visit and in 10 minutes we both saw multiple awkward exes of sorts converge all in one place.

For many of those kinds of reasons, I love on-line shopping when possible. Also in small towns, the cashiers seem to enjoy chatting about your purchases- which I’ve heard is a culture shock to people from larger cities where transactions are impersonal (and possibly not judged or merely judged silently?).

We drive out of town for health care now. But it’s too late. It is awkward standing in a queue with your former gynecologist.

Small town life! The pros… The cons! 🙂
