Not a Midlife Crisis

And please don’t say “midlife crisis.” No midlife crisis of mine will take place without a red sports car, a fox fur boa, and a big black felt hat. Plus, I’ve been to grad school, which delayed every major life stage for me. My midlife crisis is not happening until I hit 55.

Plus, I need to populate my “Things I Changed My Mind About” list for this year.

  1. Besides, there are plenty of people my age and younger who go through a hair color a week (I may be exaggerating for effect, but it’s still frequent). A simple change of hair color does not a midlife crisis make. 🙂 Your hair looks very pretty, Clarissa.

    1. Thank you! At my age, everybody assumes you are in a midlife crisis whenever you do anything different. People go, “Pepsi instead of Coke??? Are you in a midlife crisis or something? Are you feeling OK? Are you seeing a therapist?”

  2. Oddly I took you for the sort of person whose “mid-life crisis” would involve a yellow sports car …

Such as this, except in yellow:

Also oddly, since you tinker about with your mini-garden, I figured you’d enjoy tinkering about with this, so you won’t mind the seventy hours of assembly time required, in addition to the time needed to select your engine, gearbox, and other essentials from the “options” list …

    [now THAT is a mid-life crisis] 🙂

      1. It looked delicious!

Will eating such food keep you healthy until you’re old enough for the Guinness Book of World Records?

  3. I got hit hard during my mid-life crisis. I really struggled with my self-esteem when I first realized what was going on with me. I had a ton of issues with my midlife crisis and have started to follow the advice of Dr. Robi Ludwig. I saw her on a tv show once and I really appreciated her take on current psychological issues. She has written two books but my favorite book is Your Best Age is Now I have read it and loved it! I highly recommend it to anyone out there struggling with dealing with midlife. I got hit hard during my 40’s and this book really helped me to become a better version of myself.
