We just watched an early episode of X-Files, and it feels really weird how back when I was 17, Mulder looked very old and attractive. And now he looks very young and kind of ugly.
Gillian Anderson, though, looks massively better now than she did back in 1993. Red hair is not her thing, it turns out.

We started watching the whole thing from the start, from the very first episode. The opening music brings back so many memories…

It’s the clothes, especially the early episodes. In the early episodes, they wore regular suits. People complained they looked sloppy so they ended up wearing designer suits — and their characters are FBI agents. Also the 1990s were not great for fashion when it came to formal wear like suits. Suits were baggy for men.
Also Gillian Anderson was a natural blonde and about 25, so she still had baby fat for her face. The bob didn’t help either.
1993 Ducovny is younger than you are now. Puppy faced male actors tend to age horribly. (Leonardo diCaprio is a good example of this.)
I stanned so hard for the X-Files back in the day and the overarching plots made no sense whatsoever. My cousin hated the show because “it was too dark”, as in it wasn’t lit like a sitcom. :p

I know, he was 33 back then! But I was 17, and a man of 33 was ancient to me. 🙂
Aside from the clothes, the hairdos were still very 1980s.

People in their teens and very early twenties don’t look like they have fully finished faces to me now. I’m sure I look equally decrepit to them. 🙂
