It seems like purveyors of airport food have conspired to ensure that travelers suffer from acidity or indigestion on their flights. It’s next to impossible to find anything semi-decent to eat while waiting for yet another delayed flight.
If you find yourself in Dulles Airport, however, there is a solution: Chef Geoff ‘ s. Of course, this is not the real Chef Geoff ‘ s but a very diluted version. Still, one can actually feel fine after eating there, and that’s already a big thing.
I just had a very decent tomato bisque and a good arugula salad at this place, and after the horrible food at the St Louis Lambert Airport, this is heaven. Only order the arugula salad if you are really crazy for arugula, though. It’s really fresh and delicious and there’s a mountain of it. And it’s nothing like those horrible soggy wilted things that airports usually call “a salad.”
Dulles. That’s the airport most members of Congress use, in fact there’s a special express lane from downtown DC to the airport that bypasses the tolls that everyone else has to pay on the connector road to the airport. If you want to find frills at an airport in the US, that’s one of the first places to look. Oink.

The only real frill I found was the chairs that mercifully lack arm rests and allowed me to lie down. 🙂

I have found good food at IAD, also, but I don’t recall the names of the places I ate.
I have found that restaurant salads are generally better when ordered without dressing, or maybe just vinegar and olive oil on the side.

I agree! Often, salads are so overdressed that they become uneatable.
