A Spill in Alberta

The situation in Alberta is not good:

One of the largest leaks in Alberta history has spilled about five million litres of emulsion from a Nexen Energy pipeline at the company’s Long Lake oilsands facility south of Fort McMurray.

When will we finally break our tragic dependence on fossil fuels? I’ll be a happy person when we never have to hear the words “oil and gas” ever again.

  1. Oilberta has been taking a big bite out of humble pie for a while- The loonie took a huge nosedive after oil prices started plummeting and Canada was forced to realize that putting all of our money into one industry as volatile and unpredictable as oil was a very stupid move, and now this.
Maybe this will be what it takes to get the last of the oil cheerleaders’ heads out of their asses and realize it’s just not a sustainable (in both senses of the word) industry.
