As Long as Everybody Is Happy

It’s crucial always to keep in mind that people are as indifferent and dumbly hostile to the preservation of the nation-state as governments and corporations.

Not only do they refuse to die for the nation, even something as minimal and non-demanding as voting is seen as too onerous. If there is enough clownish upheaval during some part of the process, they might deign to pay attention but any intellectual investment into the democratic process is resisted with stupid single-mindedness.

“System D” works better for many people, so they’ve accepted it in lieu of democracy that works for them …

After all, what do you think Uber is but a “System D” solution to taxi regulations and licences that no longer work for many people?

Americans could have “System D” democracy — I suspect that it may even look like Donald Trump becoming the next US President. Given his track record of dealing with US courts in bankruptcy proceedings, he may in fact be the best candidate in the running to solve similar problems for the US Government itself.

I don’t believe that there’s any “stupid single-mindedness” involved — people have chosen to care about what works for them.

BTW, I’d be off at this point to buy some more politicians, but they’re already bought, at least until the next election. If I’m going to own a politician, I at least demand some form of deed and title … πŸ™‚

That’s correct: We cranky old white people vote in much higher percentages than you kids and millennials.

The irony is that we’re going to elect a relatively young candidate like Marco Rubio, while the youngsters (to the limited extent that they even vote), are casting their lot with a 68-year-old woman and a 74-year-old senator. πŸ™‚
