What’s the Big Deal with Sexting?

Do you, folks, understand all the fuss around sexting?

“OMG, these photos will ruin the teenagers’ lives forever!”

The photos will only have an impact on their lives because prudes like these get crerpily excited over a bunch of boring amateur naked photos. Otherwise, their impact would be nil.

In Colorado, idiots want to arrest kids for sending out naked pictures of themselves. Apparently, being arrested will be very helpful in getting them to not have their lives ruined. Let’s save them from the devil of their own nakedness!

  1. Because of the way the laws are written, it is very easy for a teenager in possession of a nude photograph of himself or herself to be forced to register as a sex offender for life. This can even result in being forbidden any internet access, ever.

    1. What utter nonsense — but at least the kids’ legal records will be wiped clean after one year, and in that time saner state legislation may be passed.

        1. “I don’t think so, unless the article has been updated.”

The third paragraph from the bottom of the article states:

“In September, Copening took a similar plea deal. If both comply with the terms of their deals, then their records will be wiped after a year.”

  2. This is one area many conservatives fail in. Overly oppressive laws do nothing to support the idea of limited government. Its basically the same issue with gay rights. The religious conservatives have seized the power on some of the social issues from fiscal conservatives.

The more I think about it Clarissa you and I have a lot in similar in the mixing of the issues… run on the same ticket in about 20 years? I would be fair and say we can decide who is on the top of the ticket, but since you have to be born in the US to legally be president I guess I can formally offer the VP spot? 🙂

      1. Sorry, Clarissa, but the Constitution also requires the VP to be a natural-born American. (Otherwise, the VP couldn’t become President if the President dies or is forced out of office.)

  3. My cautious side says it probably is a bit risky for teens to share nude photos. But as far as making it a criminal offense, I’m with the Republicans on this one: No more government regulation! The government should leave people alone and give us all some privacy!. That is the Republican position, right?
