Putin Names the Culprit: A Riddle

As we all know, Putin believes that the collapse of the USSR was the greatest geopolitical tragedy of the twentieth century. This week, however, he finally named the person he blames for the death of the Soviet Union.

Who is, according to Putin, to blame for the collapse of the USSR?

  1. The standard answer is Gorbachev so that can’t be right.

But I think I saw this, so I won’t answer now. I thought maybe it was deranged clickbait but maybe I should have given into temptation and looked at it.

  2. Lenin. But then I keep up with what Putin says or does. I knew from the very beggining 15 years ago that he would like to reinstate the USSR.

    1. Yes. It’s Lenin. And it makes a weird sort of sense. If Lenin hadn’t created the USSR, it wouldn’t have collapsed. So by creating it, he created the opportunity for it to be destroyed.

Within this logic, when we all die, our mothers will be to blame. Because if they didn’t give birth to us, we couldn’t die.

  3. This answer sounds so bizarre! Is there a Putin quote, or a link to one, where he actually directly blames the founder of the USSR for its ultimate demise? I’d like to read what he actually said.
