WMDs Bite Trump

So did you hear that Trump crashed in the polls after the last debate?

It seems that the “Bush lied about WMDs” jingle is not done ruining politicians. It lost John Kerry the campaign back in 2004, and now it’s destroying Trump.

Will people ever realize that, as true as it is, the statement is politically poisonous?

  1. “now it’s destroying Trump.”

I hope you’re RIGHT!! But other people have made this prediction a hundred times by now, and Trump’s still standing.

(Maybe Nikki Haley’s endorsement of Rubio today will give Mario a boost in the South Carolina primary.)

  2. I haven’t heard any polls saying the dude is crashing. Also if anyone doesn’t care about WMDs being misplaced it’s Republican primary voters. Shrub has very high approval ratings among those people.

OT: Prime Minister Tiger Beat Canada drew a picture of a building and someone paid $25k for it. My reaction: Yay human rights museum?/@#$%#W@$!

  3. Come to think of it, a Rubio-Haley ticket has a nice ring to it!

Of course, some special-interest Democratic voters might have trouble voting for a Cuban-Hispanic President and a female Indian-American V.P. 🙂

    1. Ah, another vessel of Republican sanity tossing about in a stormy sea of mostly progressive Sturm und Drang. Try to dock your ship in these perilous ports a bit earlier in the night, Sean. Most of Clarissa’s readers are asleep or occupied elsewhere this time of night — and your truthful cargo will reach the dock mostly unread and unremarked upon.

      1. Trudeau has a better haircut, but Trump is a better sociopath, and will have a much bigger impact on the world if elected.

Most of Canada is going to be underwater in a few decades, anyway, after global warming melts the Arctic glaciers.

      2. One big difference is that AFAIK Trudeau worked in the system and within the normal party processes.

Trump, for all his faults, recognized that there is no Republican party worth saving anymore, it’s an empty husk that’s been hollowed out by the Bible crazies and the Neocons (officially worst people ever – catastrophically wrong about everything and unrepentent about it and still convinced they’re right). He saw a vaccuum and is exploiting it for all it’s worth. I expect the Republicans to start coopting his messages soon or they will disappear.

I’ve given up trying to figure out this election in traditional terms – it’s already an realigning election and by the end I expect the political landscape to have been drastically altered.

It’s no longer left vs right but globalist vs nationalist and of the three candidates still standing only one is a globalist (and it’s hurting her). Clinton needs to reassert her nationalist bonafides if she doesn’t want to be swept aside.
