More on the Sanders Campaign

Bernie’s people are now going door to door in my area. This is the only campaign that has been doing door to door in our town. And the people who are knocking on doors are not all young, by the way.

It’s a very well-organized campaign, that’s for sure. I’m liking it a lot.

  1. The difference between Bernie and Hillary: Bernie is “can-do” Hillery is “can’t-do.”

Bernie says, universal healthcare. Hillary says, that would be nice but we can’t do it, better to stick with Obamacare. Bernie says, if every other advanced nation in the world can have universal healthcare, we can do it too.

Bernie says, free college for all at public institutions. Hillery and everyone else says, we can’t do it, who would pay for it? Bernie explains exactly how he would raise the tax money to pay for it. Can do.

(personally, I think students should pay a small to moderate tuition for college, to remind them that education is a valuable thing. But we can and should cut tuition prices it public institutions by 50% or more. Just my opinion.)

    1. Actually, this is not really what Bernie says about public colleges. He says that he’ll match state funding for states that want to participate in eliminating tuition. Like the majority of states, mine does not want to participate. Our state’s investment in public education is plummeting. There is nothing anybody can do to make our governor even sign a state budget second year in a row. Making him fund public higher ed is can impossibility. I’m living this ridiculous situation right now, and no amount of can-doing will change it. Fantasy won’t help. We need to face reality.

      1. See, you have a can’t do or won’t do or refuse-to-do governor.

Most conventional politicians in America today are can’t-do because they represent the wealthy class, and they Think it’s not possible to Force the wealthy to pay taxes needed to provide necessary services, such as healthcare and education. Bernie is not a conventional politician. He believes he can do what other politicians refuse to do. Of course he can’t do it alone. He needs a critical mass of can-do supporters.

  2. You’re right, he has been focusing almost 100% on introducing the broad outline of the goals he hopes voters will support. He has now achieved at least some understanding of and support for the goals. He definitely needs to explain the details of how to attain the goals.
