Jello

I have discovered Jello. And happiness ensued.

Why did the universe conceal this great thing from me until now?

  1. Jello is called Jelly in the UK. Jelly is what Americans call what we call Jam… but forget all that!
Jello is very good with ice cream, and even better if you put some nice fruit in the Jello before it sets, raspberries are lovely – although fresh pineapple can make it go weird. Enjoy!

  2. If only you had grown up here in the 1950’s as I did. Jello was everywhere. Adding various ingredients, either sweet (such as cubed fruit) or savory (such as grated carrots), and calling it a salad, was a thing. No pot luck dinner was without several variations. When Cool Whip came on the scene, it was mixed in for an opaque version.

Jello fell out of fashion in the meantime but now seems to enjoying a small renaissance.

Have you tried butterscotch pudding? That was my favorite mid-century dessert.

  3. I totally agree with the butterscotch pudding.

There are a lot of uses for Jello.

Jello molds have always been a favorite, and you can layer them in creative ways. I found this on Pinterest, and if you google jello or go to Pinterest and search there, you can find an amazing array of options.

There are also interesting uses of Jello for Halloween parties.
