In the meanwhile, another act of terror in France:
A man who killed a French policeman and his wife in Paris on Monday night (13 June) had previously been convicted for being part of a jihadist organisation with links to Pakistan. 25-year-old Larossi Abballa, was sentenced to three years in jail in 2013, with six months suspended. Prosecutors claimed the organisation he was part of aimed to “prepare terrorist acts”.
It’s like the French authorities are desperate to be kicked out of office in favor of the National Front.

Well the French authorities like the governments of pretty much all western european governments have an absolute, unshakeable and unquestionable faith in the idea that human populations are interchangeable. It’s what they have instead of religion.
Following through on this new weird faith you can’t even admit the idea into public discourse that cultural preferences exist and that people from some cultural backgrounds are not a good fit for a western european country. Instead they warble about the benefits of hijab and sex segregation as if they were personal quirks of some French people and not symbols of an entirely different value system that does not value anything about France.
I think the French voters are by and large a good deal less committed to this idea, especially when left alone in a voting booth.
The rest of the French political establishment will band together to prevent FN from gaining power as long as possible so that when they do win office they’ll be completely inexperienced which will also not end well….

cliff, I don’t think Western leaders believe “that human populations are interchangeable.” Rather, they are forced to behave as if they do believe it and encourage their voters to do the same. Who knows, may be, believing in it will make it more so.
What else can be done? I believe the key reason for today’s situation is financial / capitalistic. The combination of the old economic system demanding constant population growth and of Europeans’ sub-replacement fertility makes immigration a must. And the Arab and African worlds are becoming readier than ever to provide millions desperate to enter Europe. Wonder whether there are good statistics RE the total economic net effect of immigration on Europe, but were it negative, Europeans would not be so welcoming.
It is not mainly that immigration can not be stopped, but that EU can not afford to stop it long-term since they need immigrants. As an opposite example, Israel received zero Syrians despite the shared border since they are from an enemy state and would only have negative effects on the state of the Jewish people. As for African asylum seekers,

NF would not do anything either. And French authorities can not prevent every terrorist act, even if they began exiling everybody connected to ISIS.

Why? As I keep saying the challenge of the 21st century will be to figure out to work with economies and falling populations. Germany is already overcrowded, why not give the population soom room to breathe instead of cramming more sardines into the can?
And even if immigration were necessary, Germany is brining in the wrong people. Germany will need people who will be living in close quarters with elderly people and helping them go about their daily business. Such work sounds deeply unappealing to muslims who, as a rule, don’t like living in close quarters with non-muslims. How are you going to get a young woman who covers her hair to cook food that an elderly German would like? (one of many unaswered questions).
immigration in the incarnation currently encouraged by the powers that be is essentially a ponzi scheme that needs to be feeding larger and larger amounts of meat into the grinder.
