It’s All Good

It’s all good, though. Before the current email fuss, nobody was going to watch the DNC. Not even I was going to watch. And now everybody is going to tune in.

  1. Don’t know man, it’s like Hillary is trying to throw the election.

Firing DWS from the DNC because she’s too toxic, apparently, and then immediately rewarding her with a position on her campaign team. Is this some 4D chess move I can’t think through? A fuck-you to Bernie? Placating a loyal servant?

    Great politics!

    1. It’s loyalty and a refusal to through women under the bus for the sins of some preadolescent male jerks.

If the people of the US choose to elect Trump, then that’s what they deserve to get. I’m right now observing tenured college professors trying to talk themselves into supporting Trump. It’s their country, in the end. What can I do?

        This is laughably disingenuous.

Remember when you castigated Cecile Richards (Planned Parenthood CEO) and absolutely refused to even entertain the explanation that she was not responsible for the sins of some low level worker caught in a video sting? I do. And I bet many other posters here who argued for weeks will, too.

That time it was all about leadership and accountability. Where was your sense of female solidarity then? Unbelievable.

Former NYC mayor Bloomberg will make a speech endorsing her. The billionaire who gave himself an illegal third term in office and who actually implemented the muslim database in NYC that Trump dreams of implementing nationally is going to be at the party convention making an endorsement. He’s also known for stop and frisk, and the soda tax.

Who the fuck is she trying to reach with these moves?

        1. This isn’t about my solidarity. It’s about Hillary’s solidarity with her female colleagues. If I discover that DWS is paid the better part of a million dollars for destroying reproductive rights, I’ll have a problem with her, too.

Richards is responsible not for somebody else’s sins but for robbing a crucial organization and destroying it with her shocking laziness. She’s a female version of Rauner. What she has in common with DWS who is a hard-working individual and not a lazy socialite is a mystery.

          1. Let’s not attribute Obama’s victory to her efforts (he would’ve won anyway). Leaving that aside, how many downticket races have democrats lost in the past few years under her leadership? The salient characteristic of the democratic party for the last few years has been to win the presidency and surrender congress/senate/governorships. Don’t you think she deserves any responsibility for that?

She’s not just a hack. She’s an incompetent hack.

            1. I have no knowledge of nor any interest in the woman. What does bother me is that she is being used as an excuse to let Trump win. I respect honest Trump supporters a lot more than these liberals who say they don’t like Trump yet look for any excuse to let him win.

Of course. This is painfully obvious. But it doesn’t absolve the candidates from being fucking terrible at their job! Yes, the US deserved to get Bush, after all that’s who they voted for, but it doesn’t make Gore any less culpable for running a truly awful campaign (choosing to distance himself from one of the most charismatic presidents this country has had, etc.). Walter Mondale ran as an austerity hawk and got his ass handed to him by Reagan.

    1. Entirely irrespective of what Hillary does or doesn’t do, crowds of bored, overfed Liberals have a secret wish to see Trump elected. That’s the real problem.

  3. The DNC Convention: Come for the drama; stay for the ratfucking.

I think Reince Priebus is ready to set up tent outside the convention center, he’s so gleeful about this. Bernie Sanders’ supporters booed him when he said to support Hillary Clinton.

This is why I said HRC needs to make people as enthusiastic as possible to vote for her. I’m sorry but this leak disgusts me and HRC had nothing to do with it.

    1. These folks aren’t going to vote for Hillary no matter what. Chasing them and trying to be liked by them is a waste of time. They like Trump, what are you going to do.

      1. I’m not talking about the #neverHillary people. (there is some overlap with Bernie Sanders supporters but not all of them are like this). I’m talking about people who’ll vote but won’t fight that hard if they encounter roadblocks and who might have otherwise volunteered to do more than just vote. With key sections of the VRA dismantled, this is very important because you will see voter suppression efforts in full force.

Frankly, I’ve never been a fan of DWS’ job performance as DNC chairwoman. She’s done a very poor job before that in the midterms.

        1. She’s a proven fuckup.

So, HRC’s main problem is that she’s perceived to be untrustworthy, too insider-y, beneficiary of crony politics, etc. Why then, make any move that crystallizes this perception in the voter’s mind? It’s just bad politics. DWS is toxic now. Just drop her.

Solidarity lol. Yes, her solidarity with that idiot DWS is so much more important than defeating Trump. It’s all about relationships, yo!

Imagine if Obama had doubled down on Reverend Wright!

      2. Who are ‘these folks’? Polling shows that the so-called Berniebros (never mind that they could be women, non-white) are still voting for Hillary. More so than the Hillary partisans who committed to vote for Obama in 2008.

“Chasing them and trying to be liked by them is a waste of time.”

Ah yes, chasing them with the proven tactics of calling them sexists and racists from day fucking one.

There is NO contradiction between protesting at the convention to make the democratic party’s platform more progressive (that’s how it all works), and yet voting for clinton because she’s the best candidate in the field.

Literally every lefty I talk to frames their position in this manner. Nobody’s voting for Trump. Yet, the centrist liberals will never tire in their efforts to shit on anyone whose positions lie an inch to their left.

Just now, I gave you an example how it is a bad idea for Clinton to have mike bloomberg give a speech. Your reply:

“Entirely irrespective of what Hillary does or doesn’t do, crowds of bored, overfed Liberals have a secret wish to see Trump elected. That’s the real problem.”

That’s how Hillary’s campaign has dealt with criticism.

RNC was a one note hillary hate-fest. I hope the DNC has more to offer other than ‘Vote for me because I am not trump’.

        1. Just in the past 3 days, I have talked (in person and on social media) with at least half a dozen people I personally know who are busily arguing that Trump is not that bad. These are all people who are far more liberal than me, all academics, all very comfortable financially. They are also all women except for one. This is the real problem. This. Whatever Trump is doing is very attractive to the most unexpected people. I’d rather discuss that than the evildom of the entirely irrelevant DWS.

          1. What’s really interesting, too, that the people I’m talking about are not instructors or adjuncts. These are full professors, tenured professors, people from well off families, people who own stocks, etc. They can’t support Trump openly or even confess it to themselves. But. . . Money talks.

  4. You move in weird circles, then. These are the facts:

Can liberals, once and for all, stop shitting on people to the left of them? I know it’s a big ask.

    1. I hope so. Have you seen the polls? Is that what the numbers should be at this point and with these candidates? Trump got an actual bump out of the shitshow that was the RNC.

      This is very disturbing.
