Domestic Violence Map

The red marks countries that have no laws against domestic violence. In Russia, between 12,000 and 14,000 women are killed each year in incidents of domestic violence.

  1. The city of Moscow population is approx. 10 percent of Russia’s (13M people from 130M). Does it mean 1400 women (only!) have been killed each year in the city? In families? Nearly 4 in a day? Really? But it’s war! And what about men then? What about those lucky women killed outdoor not by their husbands? )
OK, in year 2015 Russian attorney service had registered 353 cases of murder and murder attempts in Moscow: http://crimestat.ru/offenses_table and 11325 cases (again – murders and murder attempts) in Russia at all. And this statistics is barely fakeable as tied with dead bodies, which are hard to conceal and usually they have relatives etc.
I don’t understand, Clarissa, how do you buy it. And why publish such things? Wanna compete with Russian propaganda in vileness? Well, Somalia, I see, have laws against domestic violence! Lucky land!

    1. I’m bored by fits of idiotic hysteria. Collect yourself and go read something about domestic violence instead of engaging in these tasteless tantrums.

    2. Statistics are always inaccurate in Russia, so we don’t know who’s right in his/her statistics. But we all know that you can beat up your wife as often as you want in Russia, like many Trump men supporters fetichize erotically about it, and that’s the main issue here.

That says something about the Trump-Putin candidacy.

      1. There is hardly anybody in Russia or Ukraine who doesn’t have a beaten and brutalized woman somewhere in the family. Three of my aunts were beaten to a pulp on regular occasion by their husbands. My mother-in-law was beaten by her husband for decades. I was assaulted in broad daylight by a stranger in the street at the age of 15 because I didn’t want to provide sex to him.

I feel nothing but rage and contempt for post-Soviet men who dare to deny that Russian-speaking women exist in the state of terror, brutalization, beatings, rape, harassment and degradation.

Another interesting stat: the percentage of women who are victims of rape in Russia is 100%. This means that if there is a woman who was never raped, there was another one who was raped twice.

  2. Clarissa, I grew up in a tiny town in mid Urals, where domestic violence was an ordinary part of everyday life. Luckily, it slightly concerned to my family (was a short tough period). But I remember a lot of wild scenes with two of my uncles, my classmate’s parents, neighbors etc.
Later, in high school, in university times, violence was also easily available. You should go to any rural area (‘kolkhoz’), having long hair, or glasses, or just face which appears ‘too smart to them’. Guy with the ring in the ear and going too far put his life at stake. He should not be necessarily a gay or Asian or woman or jew. Any ‘gopnik’ at any moment may come to him and say: ‘you look like you want shit to be beaten out of you’. Do you remember those times? And of course, you remember, who ‘gopniks’ are. (‘gopnik’ is a special Russian word for redneck bully, not for republican ))
And I always wondered why there’s a bunch of organizations, defending the rights of, for example, gays, when ‘gopniks’ beat and sometimes kill absolutely anybody, who looks ‘too smart for them’, thus, doesn’t respect them, thus, have to be cured. Street bands in my neighborhood killed strangers reguralry never asking about orientation. Why the hell there is not a single organization, defending the rights of people ’looking too smart to them’? Maybe, I would join )
So I witness: violence is not directed exactly against women or gays or jews or blacks. It exists, because ‘gopniks’ exist. Ancient rural culture atavism. But nobody struggles against ’gopniks’ as a main cause. Because the elite considers ‘gopniks’ as a resource, providing easy to manipulate voters, supporters in periods of social instabilities, good soldiers. Mass culture reproduces ’gopniks’ from one generation to another.
Instead, a lot of people ‘struggles for rights’ of somebody. Because, if you want to build a good political career, or become a ‘media person’, all you have to do is to choose some target group (minority) and enlighten them that their rights are infringed.
But it’s just impossible to build a career struggling for the rights of ‘too-smart-for-them’, because people of this group has no strong common feature which puts them aside of the rest of society. But minorities have. And a key to success is to convince them –whatever the price – they are victims and can (and must) get much more of everything.
That’s where numbers like 14000 come from. That’s why I’m afraid that even my 24/7 reading of any bible you would recommend will not provide 14000 dead Russian wives a year for you to be right. Excuse me that I’m not so sorry about that )
Anyway, Clarissa. I read your blog from time to time for some months, and I like and appreciate it. I probably should not begin like this, but this post was really beyond good and evil, I was impressed, sorry. Of course, I didn’t want to be rude or hostile. I just wish you to be a little bit more responsible and remember, that people could read your blog )

    1. I don’t know how to discuss anything with a person who denies that domestic violence is an existing phenomenon. It’s like somebody denying evolution or modern medicine. It’s very outlandish.

And women are not a minority anywhere bug in countries like China and India where they are slaughtered en masse in infancy. But maybe you haven’t been able to accept this fact of objective reality either.

  3. As i wrote in my previous comment, as a personality I’m in a big part a product of this phenomenon. I can’t deny it. It is obvious for anybody who has read my comment. You have not.
Shortly, my comment discussed a statement, that ‘somebody’s rights movements’ is a kind of business, funded by interest groups, but raising the overall cultural level is a hard civilization work you can’t profit from. And this raising is not something the higher classes are interested in – and this as a real problem, which cause ignorance, poverty, religious fundamentalism around the world. And, yes, domestic violence. In case of Russia it is especially obvious, that mental poverty of the population is an investment of elite for ages. Domestic violence is just one of the consequences.
So, I don’t deny domestic violence. It’s a lie. And your initial post is a lie. Just fraudulent dishonest advertisement of hatred to ‘barbaria’. And you can’t change it just trying to show me my place.
But you are right at one point. From my side, it was stupid to write a whole text to you on something important for me, something I spent a good chunk of time to think about, and hoping to see an “academic opinion” in respond. Manner of your answer makes me think you are probably somehow part of this business yourself. I have not checked it before writing. It was stupid, I admit. Nobody goes to church to argue with a preacher, being not a preacher.
So, you’re right. I’m a caveman. Naïve. Stupid. Idiot.
