MH17 Update

A two-year investigation into the tragedy of flight MH17 has concluded that the plane was downed by a missile that had been driven to the place it was launched from Russia. And after the plane was hit, it was returned to Russia.

It looks like I was wrong when I said the Kremlin didn’t order the hit and had no knowledge it was being planned. It is now becoming clear that the missile was brought in specifically to hit an airplane. But MH17 wasn’t the airplane that the Kremlin wanted to get hit.

There was another airplane there at that moment in time, and it passed MH17 shortly before the fatal missile was launched. It was a Russian airplane bringing vacationers home to Russia. It was supposed to be brought down to give Russia a casus belli, i.e. a justification for invading Ukraine openly.

Since the report came out, the Kremlin has been in a state of huge panic. Of course, they blame Americans.

Of course. And expect Putin’s fans here in the US–Stephen Cohen and Ray McGovern, for example–to start howling about how this all a US plot to besmirch Putin’s good name, etc, etc….

  2. Ok, this the last straw. This blog has opened my eyes about Putin.

I used to be a fan of him because I was angry with Obama and Merkel’s open border policies and lack of patriotism. Benjamin Netanyahu and Victor Orban are my new favorite foreign leaders. I also read Poland is giving Merkel a back lash so maybe Andrzej Duda too.

I was such a big fan that I started learning Russian. I’m going to have to find a new second language to learn… Maybe Polish.

      1. Ukrainian is another good option. I’ll have to look into Ukraine, Poland, and maybe some other places more. Then I will decide on a language to learn.

      2. “Ukrainian – That will really sting Putinoids”

Russians (at least Putinettes) really hate the Ukrainian language.
As far as I can tell, there’s no language prejudice in the modern world to match it. They seem to regard it as intrinsically evil and corrupting….

        Very weird.
