A female politician with a past checkered by scandal and accusations of corruption run for president against a sexist, obscenely rich oligarch-rapist. She lost because his populist promises were much more grandiose. He started selling the country out to his KGB handlers in Russia. The economy went entirely to the dogs. The public institutions were all undermined. All of his populist promises turned out to be egregious lies.
Finally, the people couldn’t stand it any longer. They went out into the streets by the million and refused to leave until the corrupt oligarch – rapist ran away. And the people started rebuilding the country that they themselves have allowed to slip into total shit.
It’s what happened in Ukraine, by the way.

Wow, this is better than mine. The parallels are that obvious. Problem is, Americans are not going to protest or do anything. Consumer societies never do.

We also have a gdp 1500% larger…. aka their living standard is what ours was in 1920’s (obviously ukraine has modern amenities in some capacity, which you know more than me).
Just saying that despite the unequal share of wealth, we are so weallthy and advanced its hard to compare to ukraine in any serious way.

Oh absolutely. They have a civil society and here there’s none. Just consumers. There, change is still possible. Here, it’s not.

I bet that the Americans didn’t think it could happen to them but then most of them don’t know about Ukraine. I don’t think we will see much in the way of thousands of protesters. A few hundred maybe. We are stuck for four years, unfortunately. Great blog.

Unfortunately, not. People want that kind of a horrible leader. 😞
