We decided to have a modest turkey-free Thanksgiving because we are expecting people to stay with us between Christmas and New Year’s and prefer to save the chic celebrating for them. And I hope these guests don’t take this post to mean that we fear they will eat us out of our life savings because we don’t.
As a result, we went with a fish Thanksgiving, and the whole thing cost under $20 (excluding the wine that we’d been given before.)
I made a British fish pie and the Soviet mimosa salad. The remnants of the cake are from the one my mother made last week.
And now we are sitting in front of the fireplace, admiring our Klara and listening to Christmas carols.

Do you mix all of your china settings? Do you have complete sets of china? I think of this a lot. That it’s better to have lots of mix and match china instead of one two big sets.

I got these place settings through the Vine program, so I don’t have complete sets. And I’ll never be able to buy complete ones because they are very expensive. But it’s fun to mix them and it looks original, so why not?

I had Thanksgiving at a fancy hotel here in Suli and the actual buffet was only $20 a person. Furthermore, it did include some very good turkey. I ended up spending another $20 on beverages and nargile, however.
