Even if a narcissist were to seek treatment – which, of course, is by definition impossible, this is why help would be very hard to provide:

Would the trauma be something like the birth of a sibling (and neglect of the older child)? Or would it have to be something more dramatic, like death of parents?

If it’s the former, it has to be pretty serious neglect. Not just the regular stuff of parents being busy with an infant.
