I think she must mean a sitter available at a moment’s notice, when you say “oh, shit” because you have a sudden obligation and don’t have a sitter, or your customary sitter is in the hospital, etc.

I would never have thought of that meaning. In this age of so much machine-“corrected” and machine-generated text, one just gets used to mysterious automatic malapropism .
