Great article. It confirms everything I’ve been observing. The party I want to belong to has fallen too much under the influence of rich spoiled brats who are utterly out of touch with reality and who are making it hard to want to be associated with them in any way. It’s the Tea-Partization of Democrats. And it’s quite disturbing.
We’ve been discussing recently why only 11% of young people in my area show up to vote. But it’s not that hard to figure out. The exalted language of victimization isn’t one they understand because they aren’t rich enough. What you need to do to reach them is what the article suggests.
Yes! Dems need a unifying message badly.
I was sort of surprised by the statistic that white liberals are more liberal on racial issues than black people are. But then, I also kind of wondered if their belief that “Racial discrimination is the main reason why many black people can’t get ahead these days” is ironically indicative of their own racial bias. What do you think?

Well, at least the Democrats running in this mid-term are being consistent.
Beto O’Rourke, the Democratic candidate running against Ted Cruz in TEXAS was asked this question in a widely televised town hall meeting: “What would you say to Republicans and independents thinking about voting for you but are worried you will try to impeach Trump?”
His answer, aimed at Texan voters, was that he definitely supports impeaching Trump.
Nobody is going to be surprised when he loses despite the fact that his opponent is the most despised, universally disliked Republican Senator in office.

When I discovered his name wasn’t really Beto but he was calling himself this to sound more cool or something, I lost all interest. The guy is either a total idiot or a sociopath.

It’s what his family has called him since childhood. I have my issues with Beto but this isn’t one of them.

I don’t even remotely believe that. 🙂

I have never liked it when people pointedly call Ted Cruz “Rafael” or Nikki Haley “Nimrata” or Bobby Jindal “Piyush.”
But names aside, the progressive blogs I read can’t stop slobbering over O’Rourke.

It will take me about 20 seconds to put Shakti where Beto is. Have you ever seen parents put names of their kids on the front of their clothes?
The guy messed up and he knows it.
When immigrants Americanize their names, that’s a completely different thing. That I would never criticize.

“The Democrats’ Left Turn Is Not an Illusion.”
I skimmed the article and saw that the author states that the working class’s influence on the Democratic party’s ideology is declining noticeably and the party overall is more strongly embracing identity politics. In other words, the Democratic party is actually NOT moving to the left but instead is becoming more conservative.

It’s definitely not what you and I mean by “the left” and would like to see. It’s a rhetorical left that is in the opposite direction from real left.
