The Biden administration has offered thousands of federal employees four months of paid leave if they’ll volunteer to take in migrant children who have crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.
Stray puppies get treated better than these poor children. Especially now that they are no longer needed for purposes of inane liberal posturing.

And then what? Seriously what’s the plan? How is this sustainable?
I’ve been asking that about migrant policy in the US and Europe for over 5 years and I still haven’t gotten an answer from the “pro” migrant side (which seems to be made up of well-intentioned fools and grifters in equal measure).

They create a problem and then start looking for short-term urgent solutions that end up creating a bigger problem, and so on.
These are traumatized children. These are human beings. You don’t throw them around to random people in return for a reward. It’s ridiculous.

I am really confused about the unaccompanied children at the border phenomenon. Where are their parents? How and why did they get there alone? As a mother, this is truly incomprehensible to me.

Their parents pay coyotes to bring them to the US. I believe the hope is that once the kids are here for a while, the parents plan to join them– it’s easier to boot out adults. But kids (I think) end up staying longer because it’s harder to figure out what to do with them. In practice…. a lot of them end up working as prostitutes.

The parents send them away in hopes that they’ll get established here and start sending money back. They also rent them or loan them to acquaintances or distant relatives to enhance their chances of crossing over. Another scenario is that the parents are already in the US and the relatives are sending the kids to reach them.

In fairness, while the linked article says “take them in,” the Times article they’re taking this from says “help care for migrant children in government shelters” which is quite a different thing. The situation is awful for these poor kids, but it doesn’t sound like the link is reading it right at all.

“Take them in” means giving them shelter, not helping care for them within government facilities. But then liars are unscrupulous manipulators of the feeble-minded and quit deft at using words in order to deceive. No, thank you.
The mind boggles, however, at the implications of the scheme. Does that mean that the federal government does not really need these workers to do the work for which they are paid ? How can the federal administration afford to have people on paid leave for FOUR months without incurring mismanagement issues ? Or are they thinking of hiring temporary workers to do the jobs of federal employees on paid leave looking after children ? And last, not least, who is going to vet those employees to verify that they are suitable caregivers for these presumably traumatised children ?
The whole set-up is as daft as they come, as they say in England, and only a twat or a nincompoop could have devised it, let alone suggested it. It’s at a level of incompetence that defies description.

Exactly! If you want to foster, adopt or work with kids in any capacity, you need to prove fitness in a million different ways. Which is only right. And here we are talking about kids who aren’t English-speakers, who are severely traumatized, probably have a million cognitive and behavioral issues. This is so wrong.
