There’s this joke I love.
God has had it with human beings. He called the representatives of his main religions and said, “you guys are incorrigible. If you don’t mend your ways and quit sinning within 3 days, I’ll start another great flood and cover the entire planet with water.
The Pope called his people and said, “Christians! We have three days to stop fornicating, coveting, and sinning, or we’ll all drown.”
The Imam called his people and said, “Muslims! We have 3 days to stop drinking alcohol, fornicating, and sinning, or we’ll all drown.”
The chief Rabbi called his people and said, “Jews! We have 3 days to learn to live under water.”
The joke is about understanding human nature and not expecting it to change dramatically overnight. Or at all.
