Here are just a few of my father’s books and also his medals, certificates, and awards. This is all from the last 20 years of his life, so from after the big life change I described in the previous post.

This is to say, it’s never too late to remake your life. You are never defeated until you decide you are defeated.
P.S. The shot of vodka with a piece of black bread across it is a cultural tradition. My father didn’t drink vodka.
Yeah, I feel you on this: I will lose my own father this Friday afternoon. (83 years old)

I’m so sorry, David! What’s going on? Is he at the hospital?

Yes, since Sunday afternoon officially for a mild broken hip, but he has too much other problems since too long, so he’s going to end it. My relationship with him is nowhere near yours with your father: my main mission this week is to support my mother.

This is so sad. I’m very sorry this is happening. Stay strong for your mother, ok?

No problem with that: I will stay strong for her. We are so close that this is naturally the thing to do. We knew since months that this will be coming, so this is not a real surprise for us.
And we transfer a shitload of money from the joint account.😉

Knowing ahead of time doesn’t necessarily make it easier when it happens…. All the best for you and your family at this difficult time.
