    1. There are no lazy people. Everybody is brimming with energy to do the things they want to do. Laziness is a code word for hiding from your own nature, your own mission in life.

        1. There’s a difference between your job entailing things you don’t like (I’m pretty sure Clarissa doesn’t love dealing with the administration, f’rex) and the lack of… I don’t know how to describe it other than a perpetual motion engine where your work just charges you with energy to do your work.

Just realized a thing that changed in my relationship with my job in the last 2 years or so, btw. Used to be the sort of person who would take the projects nobody else wanted to take and would thrive in them, then I suddenly wasn’t like that anymore and just wanted to go climb mountains. Difference is – my parents, whom I don’t have an uncomplicated relationship with, divorced, very messily. While they were together and pretty wealthy and offering to pay this and that if only I’d put up with their (especially my father’s) bullshit, being incredibly good at my job even though it was messed up was ridiculously important for me, in an unconscious way. Gave me independence. And this gave me energy. Now that they’re both embroiled in the divorce and my father isn’t even talking to me anymore, there aren’t any poisoned gifts on offer, and I don’t need to prove myself at my job to prove independence, and the appetite for suffering has shifted into mountaineering…. in which I have ridiculous endurance given my physical level (I’m fit, but I’m in my mid thirties and have started doing this stuff seriously only a few years ago)

Sounds like I need to think about why I gain strength through suffering….
