Pre-election

That’s a good way to put it. You can have either the weirdos or the normies. It’s impossible to cater simultaneously to both.

DeSantis had a great opportunity but he pissed it away. He tried to be everything to everybody and that always has the opposite effect.

At this very early point, I like Mike Pence. Obviously, a lot can still happen but for now he sounds sane and strong.

Of course, it’s important to remember that national governments no longer can solve the most pressing problems we experience because those problems don’t appear and develop on a national level. This process of the erasure of national subjecthood is far more advanced in Europe than in the US but it’s occurring here, too. So please don’t hate your neighbor over an election that means less and less for you in practical terms.

  1. It seems to me that Pence is also trying to have it both ways. I think he showed his true colors when he said “That’s not my concern.” His concern is getting elected.

TUCKER CARLSON: You are distressed that the Ukrainians don’t have enough American tanks? Every city in the United States has become much worse over the past three years. Drive around. There is not one city that’s gotten better in the United States. And it’s visible. Our economy has degraded, the suicide rate has jumped, public filth and disorder and crime have exponentially increased, and yet your concern is that the Ukrainians, a country most people can’t find on a map, who have received tens of billions of U.S. tax dollars, don’t have enough tanks?

I think it’s a fair question to ask: Where’s the concern for the United States in that?

MIKE PENCE: That’s not my concern. I’ve heard that routine from you before but that’s not my concern. I’m running for president of the United States because I think this country is in a lot of trouble. I think Joe Biden has weakened America at home and abroad. And as president of the United States we’re going to restore law and order in our cities. We’re going to restore law and order in our cities, secure our border, get this economy moving again, and we’re going to make sure that we have men and women on our courts at every level who will stand for the right to life and defend all the God-given liberties enshrined in our Constitution.

Anybody who says we can’t be the leader of the free world and solve our problems at home has a pretty small view of the greatest nation on Earth. We can do both. And as President of the United States, we will secure our border, support our military, revive our economy, and stand by our values, and we will also lead the world for freedom under my administration.

    1. I can’t get over what a cute little Communist Tucker has become. :-))) Oh, how the mighty have fallen. “Government money cleans up streets, cures drug addiction and creates order” – AOC is less communistic than this. I guess, a rich boy will always automatically veer towards these big government truisms, no matter what you do.

This reminded me how in Cuba you see people sitting in the midst of the most extraordinary filth. They just sit there. Nobody tries to clean up. They are waiting for the government to do it for them. It looks like Tucker joined them in that wait.

      1. Tucker is who he has always been. He’s not saying this because he believes it, he’s saying what his audience wants to hear. Same as when Ron DeSantis suggested a death penalty for rapists. They are not speaking in good faith.

        1. But that’s precisely it. Nobody would care about some rich Tucker going all far left. It’s that the conservative audience is suddenly so eager to conserve the values of campus Marxists from 15 minutes ago. Marxism won. That’s the sad part.

          1. It’s not eager for that. The details don’t matter. It wants to hear a moral justification for not spending that money on Ukraine. Bringing up domestic problems that the money could be better spent on is a common political trick. And if Tucker were then elected to political office, he would proceed to lower the taxes on the rich instead.

      2. Tucker Carlson has not become anything; if anything he has been fairly consistent in his anti foreign interventionism, which now he’s applying to Ukraine . This has been him for over a decade now. The person that changed is you, because now he’s against something important to you.

This is just kinda sad that Mike Pence is even an option. A block of wood might be more competent. I can’t think anything substantial or important that Mike Pence has done, other than being a baby sitter to Donald Trump.
