Slow Progress

Once again, a visitor comes to my office, sees this:

and joyfully exclaims, “Ah, you teach Russian!”

It took three statements to the effect that I’m a professor of Spanish to get the fellow off the topic of when my imaginary Russian courses are scheduled next Fall.

On the positive side, he’s placing the flag in the right geographic region, so that’s progress.

    1. Zelensky is trying to ingratiate himself with the Biden administration in the aftermath of the Trump verdict. I think he’s making a mistake.

      Fair warning, though. One more phrase issuing a command as to what I “should” do, and you are permanently banned. If you can’t control yourself and communicate like a normal person, I’ll help you move along.

      1. Condemning a war crime is a great thing though — no matter what you think about it.

        Also shows that not all Ukranians are warmongers, and that’s a great relief.

    1. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean anybody is obligated to listen to you. It’s bizarre that people who don’t have the intellect to understand something so simple would believe they are valuable discussion partners.

      1. And yet when someone pointed out that you not being confident to say bigoted/ignorant things in your place of work — because it’s inane — is not a constitutional infringement, you cry “It’s a Soviet world in the US now!”

        At least be intellectually consistent. Lol.
